Permissioned ledger
Noble ticker USDC
Summary
Noble (chain ID noble-1) is a Cosmos SDK application chain built to issue assets such as USDC, running CometBFT consensus under a proof-of-authority model. Validators hold equal, permissioned allocations of a staking token that Noble's docs say has no value; on 27 September 2026 seven validators each held 1 STAKE with equal voting power. A block commits once validators holding more than 2/3 of voting power precommit it, assuming less than 1/3 are faulty. There is no governance module: a 5-of-7 multisig of Noble and six other firms schedules upgrades, changes parameters and maintains IBC connections, and validators can refuse an upgrade. Noble is not secured by Cosmos Hub stake. 231019202532
Design
- System
- Permissioned ledgerCovers the Cosmos SDK chain noble-1. Anyone can hold, send and bridge assets on it, but blocks are produced by a proof-of-authority set of seven permissioned validators whose staking token has no value, and upgrades and parameters are controlled by a 5-of-7 multisig rather than token-holder votes. The package table listed Noble as a permissionless layer 1; this profile uses the permissioned class because consensus membership is gated. A separate EVM network announced by Noble in January 2026 is not described here, because its launch was not confirmed.

- Who makes blocks
- CometBFT chooses proposers round robin in proportion to voting power; with seven equal validators, proposing rotates evenly among them. Validators are admitted through allocations of the permissioned staking token, not by open bonding.
- Fork choice
- No fork choice in the Nakamoto sense: a height is decided by more than 2/3 of precommits, which with seven equal validators means five signatures. Three validators offline or refusing to sign halts the chain rather than forking it. A detected double-sign permanently removes the validator; the staking token it loses has no market value, so Noble's docs describe the cost as the lost seat and all future fee revenue. How fees reach validators today was not verified: the standard fee-distribution module was removed, and release v11.0.0 recovered funds left stuck after its removal.
Qualifications
- System class · Contested. Anyone can use Noble, which is why it is often listed with permissionless layer-1 chains, but block production is limited to a permissioned proof-of-authority set and there is no token-holder governance. This profile follows who can produce blocks; a reviewer could reasonably file it either way.
- Shared security · Not applicable. Noble's 2023 launch post says it chose not to launch as a Cosmos Hub consumer chain and started with proof of authority instead. Its docs describe the validators as a subset of Cosmos Hub validators, but Hub stake does not secure Noble, and no later move to Interchain Security was found.
- Scarce resource · Partial. Validators hold equal allocations of a permissioned staking token that Noble says has no value, and a double-sign removes the validator for good. The consensus is recorded as authority or reputation based; Noble's docs describe the lost future fee income as the economic cost, but how fees reach validators today was not verified.
- Finality · Partial. Blocks are final once five of the seven validators sign, and there are no ordinary reorganizations. Because nothing of market value is slashed, finality rests mainly on the honesty and reputations of the seven operators.
- Native token · Partial. The chain has no general-purpose native coin: its staking token has no value, and fees are paid in issued assets, mainly USDC. A NOBLE governance token was announced for Noble's planned EVM network, and the first step of its airdrop claims (linking an Ethereum address) opened on 30 October 2025, but its launch was not confirmed and it is not an asset on this chain. The ticker in this profile's name therefore shows USDC, the main fee asset.
- Evm migration · Unknown. On 20 January 2026 Noble announced a move to a separate EVM layer 1 built with Commonware, Reth and Simplex consensus, expected on 18 March 2026, with the Cosmos chain later kept in maintenance mode. By 27 September 2026 no launch announcement, public network listing or documentation for that network was found, while noble-1 kept producing blocks on software v11.6.0.
- Tps · Unknown. No sourced, classed throughput figure was found. Noble's docs give block times of 1 to 1.5 seconds; heights and times reported by a public node imply about 1.3 seconds on average between 21 January and 27 September 2026. That is a block interval, not a capacity figure.
Tradeoffs
- Emphasizes
- Scalability
- Gives up
- Open participation and stake-backed security. Seven invited validators with equal, valueless stake produce every block, and a 5-of-7 multisig controls upgrades, parameters and IBC maintenance, so users rely on the reputations of a small known group, and on the fee income Noble's docs point to, rather than on value at risk. The issuers of the main assets can also freeze accounts or pause their tokens.Scalability here means blocks about 1.3 seconds apart with immediate finality for one asset-issuance chain, not a sourced throughput figure. Noble's docs present lost fee income as the economic cost of misbehaviour, and some readers count a small, accountable validator set as a security strength; others read the same facts as centralization.
- Full node at home
- Practical at home 8937No official hardware requirements were found. Noble's docs recommend state sync and point to Polkachu for snapshots; the pruned snapshot Polkachu listed on 27 September 2026 was about 1 GB. Running a full node lets you verify the chain but does not admit you to consensus.

Capabilities
| Capability | How it is provided | Notes and sources |
|---|---|---|
| Account abstraction | Structured assessment pending | Not yet assessed for any chain. |
| Atomic swaps | Unknown | Not yet assessed under the current definitions; Noble runs no smart contracts, and its module list has no hash-time-locked or other cross-party swap module, but a module list does not show whether two parties can exchange assets in one transaction they both sign, which was not reviewed. Noble Swap offered single-transaction swaps against pools until its pools were closed in August 2026; a pool swap is not an exchange between two parties. IBC and CCTP transfers are not swaps. No cited source shows absence, so the rule that absence needs a source makes this unknown rather than not present. 1316 |
| Authenticated data publication | Unknown | Not yet assessed under this row's current definition. |
| Light clients | Built into the protocolLimited scope | CometBFT consensus produces the validator-signed commits that IBC light clients check, and Noble's IBC connections rely on on-chain light clients that verify the counterparty chain's consensus. Limit: clients expire if not updated in time; Noble's maintenance multisig restores them, and several 2026 releases did so. 31533 |
| Native staking or delegation | Structured assessment pending | Not yet assessed for any chain. |
| On-chain governance | Structured assessment pending | Not yet assessed for any chain. |
| Parallel execution | Structured assessment pending | Not yet assessed for any chain. |
| Payment or state channels | Unknown | No payment or state channel layer anchored to Noble was reviewed. IBC channels are messaging paths, not payment channels. 33 |
| Programmable spending | Partial (layer not stated) Earlier definition | Noble has no general smart contracts (no CosmWasm or EVM). Spending options beyond a single key come from standard Cosmos SDK features included in the chain, such as multisignature accounts, delegated authorizations and fee grants, plus Noble forwarding accounts that automatically pass received funds to a set IBC destination. 613 |
| Protocol-verified messaging | Structured assessment pending | Not yet assessed for any chain. |
| Reversible transfers or recovery | Unknown | Not yet assessed under the current definitions; no feature was found through which a sender can cancel, delay or reclaim a payment, or an owner can recover an account. The only related powers are issuer controls: Circle's USDC module can blacklist addresses and pause the token, and blacklisted or paused USDC cannot leave over IBC. Issuer controls act on holders, not for them, and no cited source shows absence, so this is unknown rather than not present. 45 |
| Rollups | Unknown | The review did not verify absence, so the rule that absence needs a source makes this unknown rather than not present. Earlier finding: no rollup settling to Noble was found. Chains and rollups that use Noble USDC receive it over IBC or other bridges and keep their own security; Noble's 2023 post on Celestia rollups describes Noble as their issuer and router, not their settlement layer. 1233 |
| Shielded transfers | Structured assessment pending | Not yet assessed for any chain. |
| Signed partial offers | Unknown | Not yet assessed under this row's current definition. |
Reading these values
- How this feature is provided
- Built into the protocol, core-team software or independent software says where a feature lives and who can change it. These are implementation layers, not quality: core-team software is not closer to the protocol than independent software.
- Structured assessment pending
- The shared review has not assessed this feature for any chain yet (Account abstraction, Native staking or delegation, On-chain governance, Parallel execution, Protocol-verified messaging and Shielded transfers). That does not mean it is absent, and a chain’s profile may already describe it.
- Unknown
- The review has not established this for this chain under the current definition; the note beside it says why. Unknown is not absent and not a low score. A feature reads “Not present” only when a source shows it is absent.
- Earlier definition
- Payment or state channels, Programmable spending and Rollups keep the earlier definition until the next fact-check. There, “Native” does not separate the protocol from core-team software, “Ecosystem software” does not say who publishes it, and “Partial” does not say which layer.
- Reading across rows
- The list of capabilities is incomplete. Do not read these rows as a chain leading or lagging overall.

| Automated market makers | None foundNoble Swap (closed) | Noble Swap, a built-in stableswap exchange whose pool traded USDC against USDN, launched alongside USDN in March 2025. Release v11.6.0 (August 2026) closed all its pools, and an on-chain query on 27 September 2026 showed the one remaining pool with no liquidity shares. No other exchange venue on Noble was verified. 162127 |
| Issuer-native stablecoins | Established in the ecosystemUSDC (Circle), EURe (Monerium), USDN (Noble) | Circle's own USDC address list includes Noble (denom uusdc); on-chain supply was about 103 million USDC on 27 September 2026. Monerium issues EURe on Noble. Noble's own USDN, backed by Treasury bills through M0, reached about 127 million within four months of its March 2025 launch by Noble's account, but had about 1.6 million in supply on 27 September 2026, and its site offered only a redemption path to Ethereum. Ondo's yield-bearing USDY on Noble is not counted here. 18222326283134 |
| Algorithmic stablecoins | None found | Noble's issuance modules are for reserve-backed assets, and none issues an algorithmic stablecoin. Assets arriving over IBC from other chains were not reviewed. 13 |
| Bridges | Native to the protocolIBC, Circle CCTP (V1), Hyperlane, Wormhole module, Orbiter routing | IBC with forwarding accounts and rate limits carries Noble assets to other Cosmos chains; IBC transfers were still being processed on 27 September 2026. Circle lists Noble for CCTP only in its legacy V1 (domain 4). Hyperlane messaging and token routes were added in 2025, but the Hyperlane registry marked Noble deprecated and disabled on 13 August 2026. A Wormhole module is compiled into the chain, and the Orbiter routing module (October 2025) passes incoming IBC transfers on over CCTP or Hyperlane. Risk: Each route adds trust: CCTP depends on Circle's attestation service and the legacy V1 contracts; IBC depends on counterparty chains and on light clients that expire unless renewed; Hyperlane and Wormhole depend on their own validator sets. Issuers can pause or blacklist, which blocks transfers, and Noble's multisig can sever IBC connections. 67111314333536 |

Noble v11 (Flux) adds the Orbiter cross-chain routing module
Release v11.0.0 added Orbiter, which accepts an incoming IBC transfer carrying instructions, can take a fee on Noble and forwards the funds over CCTP in one user transaction. Noble's launch post said Hyperlane forwarding and swap actions were not yet enabled; the current docs list Hyperlane forwarding as supported and swaps as not supported. It also allowed anyone to create Hyperlane collateral tokens for assets other than USDN and recovered expired IBC clients for two chains.
- Implementation:released as v11.0.0, with v11.0.1 and v11.1.0 follow-ups
- Release:released 2025-10-21
- Activation:activated at height 37,480,000 per Noble's mainnet upgrade table

Known gaps
What this profile's review did not establish:
- Whether Noble's announced EVM layer 1 launched, and on what date, was not confirmed; no launch post, public network listing or documentation was found.
- Whether the NOBLE token announced for that network has launched was not confirmed; the address-linking step of its airdrop claims opened in October 2025, and Noble's claims post said tokens would be claimed on Ethereum on launch day, but no token or launch record was found.
- How transaction fees reach validators now was not verified. Noble's docs present lost future fee revenue as the penalty for misbehaviour, but the standard fee-distribution module has been removed from the chain.
- Why the Noble Dollar site now offers only redemption to Ethereum, and whether USDN is being wound down, was not confirmed by an announcement; supply fell from about 127 million in 2025 to about 1.6 million.
- No official hardware requirements for a Noble node were found; the node posture rests on snapshot sizes from Polkachu.
- The members of the 5-of-7 maintenance multisig come from Noble's docs and were not checked on chain; the multisig address was not reviewed.
- Whether the seven current validators are all Cosmos Hub validators, as the docs describe the set, was not checked.
- Whether Hyperlane routes to Noble still work after the Hyperlane registry marked Noble disabled in August 2026 was not verified.
- Circle lists Noble only for its legacy CCTP V1; no retirement date for V1 was found.
- Ledger signing through Cosmos wallets and third-party Trezor paths were not tested or confirmed by vendor pages.
- No sourced, classed throughput figure was found; the block interval is computed from two points reported by one public node.
